Despite an abundance of natural resources, the Democratic Republic of the Congo remains one of the poorest countries in the world. Members of its elite, however, have accumulated spectacular wealth. Drawing on Congolese legal and business documents, the Congo Research Group has documented that the family of Congolese President Joseph Kabila family either partially or wholly owns or has owned more than 80 companies and businesses in the Congo and abroad.
